Our Management
Izzet Bensusan
CEO, Founder & Partner
As the CEO, Izzet sets the strategy and path for success at Karbone. Izzet founded Karbone initially focused in the burgeoning carbon credit markets and grew the firm into a fully integrated energy financial services platform. He also works with select large institutional clients to acquire utility scale assets, including solar and wind farms.
He currently serves as the group chair of Young President’s Organization’s renewable energy network where he regularly communicates with CEOs in charge of renewable energy firms globally.
Izzet holds an MBA from Columbia University as well as an MA/BA from Brandeis University in Economics and Finance. Izzet is an avid triathlete, cyclist and has a green thumb when it comes to bonsais.
Jonathan Burnston
Managing Partner
As the Managing Partner of the firm, Jonathan directly oversees the Commodity Brokerage and Research groups. Jonathan has been pivotal in undertaking new initiatives at the firm to launch the carbon credit, power, capacity, research, and ultimately the renewable fuels desks. In addition to his transactional work, he also provides analytical input into the firm’s research practice and integrated support for the capital advisory business. Prior to Karbone, Jonathan co-founded a project origination firm in the CDM Carbon market in China.
Jonathan holds a BA from Tufts University and a MA from Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs. An active Aikido student with a 2nd degree black belt in Taekwondo, Jonathan is perhaps best known as Karbone’s self-proclaimed Foosball Ninja.
